Identification:
Dissolve About 10mg in 2ml of alcohol. Add 1ml of A 1.0g/L solution of testosterone proportionate in alcohol and 2ml of dilute Sodium hydroxide Solution. Heat in water bath at 80°C for 10min. and allow to cool. Ared colour develops.

Tert Butylhydroquinone Antioxidant can be combined with other preservatives such as Butylated Hydroxyanisole Antioxidant (BHA). As food additive, its E number is E319, Where it is used as a preservative. Tert Butylhydroquinone Antioxidant is added to a wide range of foods, with highest limit (1000mg/kg) permitted for frozen fish and products. Its primary advantage is enhancing storage life.
Tert Butylhydroquinone Antioxidant is used industrially as a stabilizer to inhibit autopolymerization of organic peroxides. Inperfunery, it is used as a fixative to lower the evaporation rate and improve stability. Tert Butylhydroquinone Antioxidant is also added to varnishes, lacquers, resins and oil field additives.
